BIG BAND DANCES

BIG BAND DANCES at the Roger Robach Community Center, 2nd floor. Handicap accessible. We have a series of Spring & Fall Entertainment.  The Spring session is from April thru May.  The Fall session is from September thru October. $2.00 donation.

Each night starts out with the Al Bruno Trio and plays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Starting at 7:10 PM one of the Big Bands will play.

The Ontario Beach Park Program Committee is an all-volunteer group that provides free family entertainment at Ontario Beach Park, Rochester, New York. They have been in existence since 1984. The committee sponsors The Spring and Fall Big Band Dance Series, Wegmans Concerts by the Shore, Annual Lakeside Winter Festival, Kite Flight, and Romancing the River.

Lakeside Winterfest Celebration and Polar Plunge return February 5 and 6th, 2022

Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 12 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

New covid restrictions permitting, the 36th Lakeside Winterfest Celebration will be held at Ontario Beach Park, Saturday and Sunday, February 5 and 6th.  Saturday from 12 pm until 4 pm, features an afternoon of fun and family events. Most activities will take place in a large, heated tent in the east courtyard of the Robach Center and the surrounding park. Come take a horse-drawn wagon ride, vote for Rochester’s best chili in the Chilly, Chili Challenge, taste and purchase local wines and craft beers, watch expert ice carvers create unique frozen art, and compete in the annual snow sculpture contest, this year’s category, Rochester landmarks. There will also be demonstrations of sled dogs, a chance to try snowshoes, and fun for the kids with the City’s Rec on the Move Staff. The Neil Van Dorn Band will rock the tent from 1- 3:30 pm.  For sustenance, enjoy the many restaurant choices in the area, one of the onsite vendors or coffee, hot chocolate, and bagel served up by volunteers from the Charlotte Community Association.

Sunday, February 6, Special Olympics New York’s largest polar plunge? the Rochester Polar Plunge takes over the beach, with over 1,000 polar plungers dipping into the frigid water of Lake Ontario at 12, Noon! Enjoy the costume contest, team and individual award ceremonies, food, raffles, and the famous march to the water led by the Gates Keystone Club Pipes & Drums as they escort the athlete and Torch Runner carrying the Flame of Hope. Join us as we salute local Special Olympics New York athletes, who stand up for inclusion on and off the field, day in and day out. Every dollar raised allows all local athletes to compete at no cost to them or their families.

Though pre-registrations are preferable, walk-up registrations, which require the $60 registration fee and you will receive the coveted and collectible, Rochester Polar Plunge sweatshirt, are always welcome beginning at 9:00 AM. Spectators are also welcome at no cost.

Polar Plunge 2019

More than 2,000 winter enthusiasts dove into the icy waters of Lake Ontario to benefit the Special Olympics.

These events are organized by the all-volunteer Ontario Beach Park Program Committee and sponsored by the City of Rochester and Monroe County.
