2026 Kite Flite
Sunday, May 3
12 – 4 p.m.

The Ontario Beach Park Program Committee’s annual Kite Flite brings all ages and all walks of life together on the shores of Great Lake Ontario to celebrate the art and joy of kite flying. This year’s Kite Flite will be held Sunday, May 3 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Ontario Beach Park (50 Beach Avenue, Rochester NY 14612).

Expert kite flyers from Rochester and the Great Lakes Kitefliers Society will show off their unique colorful creations and amaze the crowd with their skills, and the public will have ample chances to fly too. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the day, and City Recreation staff will provide free kite-building workshops for youth 12 and under.

In addition, performers from Roc City Circus will entertain with their own amazing aerodynamics and acrobatics, and the Charlotte Community Association’s expert chefs will be grilling hots and serving up other treats, along with kite kits, to support their community work.

Kite Flite is sponsored by Wegmans and presented by the Ontario Beach Park Program Committee with support from Monroe County, the Charlotte Community Association and the City of Rochester. Funding for this project was provided in part by Neighbors in Action (NIA), a joint effort by the City of Rochester, Rochester Area Community Foundation, and ESL Federal Credit Union. NIA offers small grants and support for residents to come together to strengthen their neighborhoods.
