Schooner Sails

GENERAL GEORGE PATTON’S SCHOONER WHEN AND IF AT PORT OF ROCHESTER JUNE 26-29

Ship will host public sails and private charters

We’re excited to announce a June 26-29 visit of the historic schooner When and If to the Port of Rochester on Great Lake Ontario!

Based in Key West, Florida and Salem, Massachusetts, the 83-foot schooner was built in 1939 for legendary General George Patton. Patton’s dream was to sail around the world with his wife Bea “when the war is over, and if I live through it.”

The presence of When and If at the Port of Rochester will surely evoke our own rich maritime history and traditions. In fact, When & If was restored on Finger Lake Cayuga in 2012, meaning that the schooner is returning to the region of its rebirth!

The schooner will host day sails and sunset sails during its visit to Rochester, and will also be available for private charters. Day sails are $69 per person, and twilight sails are $89 per person; sails do not include food or beverages (other than provided iced bottled water). This will be the sole chance in 2025 for the public to sail upon such a ship out of the Port of Rochester.
